This is one of my simplest salad recipes that I go to in a pinch. It comes together fast and it has a lot of ingredients I often have on hand. Feel free to add in extra veggies you have on hand or swap out the lettuce for something you prefer.
Italian Side Salad Ingredients
Romaine: You can use any type of lettuce in this recipe but I think romaine works the best. It is crisp and mellow in flavor. I would just skip anything too tough such as kale or bitter such as mustard greens.
Tomatoes: I suggest using cherry or grape tomatoes but if you only have larger tomatoes just chop them up and they will work great.
Red Onion: Make sure to cut your onion in thin slices so it’s not too over powering in flavor. If you don’t like red onions, use a couple of sliced green onions instead.
Parmesan: This is optional but I love to add a little parmesan to the salad to get it an extra salty flavor.
Croutons: Croutons give this salad a nice crunch. You can use any type of crouton, plain, garlic, or seasoned. Whatever you have should work here.
Dressing: This recipe comes with a simple homemade dressing. If you don’t want to make the dressing you can just use a store bought Italian dressing.

What to serve with this salad
Serve this salad along side any pasta dish or main meal. It is a great addition to most meals because it is fairly simple to throw together.
