The Best Candida Diet Recipes

Jump to RecipeGrain bowl with tofu, egg, and veggies.

If you are thinking of going on a candida diet or eating healthier for your gut, here are a few of my favorite recipes that are delicious and filling.

Recently, I had to go on a Candida diet to balance out my gut, and hopefully help with my allergies. I eat mostly vegetarian with the occasional fish, so finding recipes that fit the diet was a little tricky. I hope theses pescatarian candida recipes help you find some things to eat while you are on your journey.

What is the Candida Diet?

The candida diet is a way of eating to reduce the amount of candida in your body. If you know or suspect that you have a candida overgrowth, cutting out certain foods like sugar and adding in other gut healthy foods can help reduce it.

The diet has some general rules, but depending where you look it may differ slightly. The best way to know what you should and shouldn’t be eating it to talk to a doctor. They can help you figure out how severe the overgrowth is and what your next steps should be.

Some doctors choose to give some type of medication and vitamins to help you during this process as well.

Most of the recipes I share below can be tweaked slightly to fit the diet you need. I made notes next to each recipe on things you may need to change.

What can and can’t you eat on the Candida Diet?

I have looked up a lot of different Candida diets and they all suggest a little something different. The main things NOT to eat are:

  • Sugar
  • Dairy
  • Alcohol
  • Refined Grains

Beyond that, some diets go as far as to say no beans, fruit, starchy vegetable, mushrooms, rice, and more. Depending on your preferences, some of these recipes may include items you are trying to avoid. Check with your doctor to see what in particular you should be avoiding.

As for the foods you CAN eat, here is a reference list:

  • Non starchy vegetables
  • Quinoa
  • Fish and Meat
  • Eggs
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Oats

Substitutes to make

If you are not eating rice, substitute cauliflower rice. Here is a recipe on how to make it: Cauliflower Rice. You can also substitute quinoa.

For pasta dishes, make sure to use gluten free pastas

If recipes have additional sugar in sauces or dressing, I just remove the sugar from the recipe. They still tasted delicious!

Vegan and Vegetarian Candida Recipes

Sweet potato hash with an egg on top.

Fish Candida Recipes

Tofu and veggie bowl.

As you are going through your candida journey I hope these recipes help. I will continue to add recipes to this list as I find more that follow the criteria and are delicious.

Even after you clear up your candida overgrowth, it is helpful to continue eating less sugar and eating some of these recipes in your regular rotation.
